Out and About

All about activities in Pembrokeshire

The cottage sits above the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and a little cove called Ceibwr, belonging to the National Trust and an SSI site. You can walk to the bay and the path in about five minutes. If takes about 2 hours to walk the coastal path to Poppit Sands beach and about 4 hours to walk the coastal path to Newport Sands beach. There are also numerous cross-country paths you can take from the cottage door.  We supply a map on the local area that shows you all the great walks you can do.

Sea swimming is wonderful at Poppit Sands beach as it’s not deep and shelves out gently. Its also brilliant for rock pooling when the tides out, with lifeguards in the summer months.  We provide you with a list of local beaches and how to find them in our Cottage Information Folder. Within 30 minutes of the cottage we have 9 different beaches for you to enjoy.

A little more...

There are so many activities in Pembrokeshire that it would be hard to fit them all into your holiday.

If you fancy Coasteering in the blue lagoon contact Celtic Quest Coasteering. For a bit of stand up paddle boarding or kayaking you can also try Board Games Surfing and Kayak-King. There are lots of horse riding stables. The nearest to us would be Crosswell Riding Stables, you can take an hour out over the Preseli Hills, or a couple of hours with a stop off for a pub lunch. If it’s dolphin spotting you’re looking forward to then Bay To Remember launch from Cardigan and have a very successful history on spotting these beautiful animals.

We have a wealth of local knowledge and could bombard you with more information. If there are any particular activities in Pembrokeshire you would like to do, just drop us a line. If we don’t know, we know a man who does.

All About The Pantry

Wales is renowned for its wonderful food and we have so many fantastic local providers right here on our doorstep.  There is a local butcher shop in Newport Village and in Cardigan town. A local organic vegetable farm just down the road in St Dogmaels village, and plenty of free range eggs sold straight from the gates along the country lanes. Every Tuesday morning there is an award winning food market in St Dogmaels,  by the Abbey ruins and on Monday morning a lovely food market on Newport Village high street. Fresh fish is easy to get hold of with a lovely little fishmongers in Newport Village and Len Walters, our local fisherman selling prepared crab and lobster from his home in St Dogmaels Village, you will also find his wife Mandy (an award winner herself) at the Tuesday morning market with delicious pre-prepared fish, crab and lobster.

If you like to be prepared then Tesco & Asda will deliver to Seaview Cottage. We will send you details on how to do this with your booking information.

All about restaurants

We are so lucky to be close to some amazing little eateries. From pub grub to something a little more special if you have a celebration planned.  We list all of our favourites in our Cottage Information Folder but here are a few we think you will enjoy.  Remember it gets quite busy in peak season so we always recommend that you book in advance. Outside peak season these lovely restaurants are still open.

For some great pub grub try The Golden Lion in Newport or The Ferry Inn in St Dogmaels. Further afield we love to eat in The Nags Head in Abercych.  If you want the best burgers and pizzas it has to be The Canteen in Newport, but if its Indian you’re after then definitely Abduls in Cardigan Market Town.  For a special occasion we can recommend Llys Meddyg in Newport Village or the restaurant at The Cliff Hotel with its stunning sea views.

All about shopping

There are several wonderful little towns within easy reach of the cottage.  Newcastle Emlyn is renowed for its antique stores and quirky clothes shops. Narbeth is great for little crafts and local art shops, and Cardigan Market Town has a wonderful indoor market to browse through with a high street full of interesting shops. Tenby is renowned and about a 40 minute drive from the cottage, it’s a great little seaside town with lots of buzz. In the summer months there are plenty of car boot sales, food festivals and county shows going on. We highlight them all on our Facebook page, along with some activities in Pembrokeshire, and try to keep you update with any exciting local news.
